HMS Race Horse Build Log (Completion) - Day 46 to 50

Day 46 to 50 - 12 Hours Work

All the yardarms are now on, and my ship is completed!! From the unboxing till now, it's around 3 months plus, or total of 250+ hours including planning which I did not mention. The whole process was so fun, and fruitful. :)

Anyway, I'm still working on the display case. It shouldn't take too long.

Here are the updates!
Spritsail and main yards riggings were easier because there are lesser riggings in front, in which I can do the riggings more comfortably.

Some 'forcing' were done to make the yards look parallel  :P

The mizzen part is harder because all the backstays are blocking my hands to rig on the pin rail.

HMS Race Horse Build Log - Day 41 to 46

Day 41 to 46 - 12 Hours Work

OK, it's time for redoing works.. The Ratlines! Some modellers shared to me that they could be done better by rigging the 5th ratline first, and then do the ones between those, and then the rest.. So, I followed the suggested method, and the result seems good. :)

Method Used

Also, I used cow hitches instead of clove hitches at the first and last shrouds to more realistic look as suggested from other forumers.

Total of 392 knots... :D

Then, I continued to the gaffs..

HMS Race Horse Build Log - Day 36 to 40

Day 36 to 40 - 12 Hours Work

It has been a while after the failure of rigging the ratlines, as I was off for two trips. I was back a week ago and continued on the riggings... Anyway, I removed my ratlines which I think the result was still not satisfying. :(

Ratlines Removed

I've asked through forums and some suggested that I should rig the futtock staves first before I start the ratlines, because it will help avoiding hourglass shape on the shrouds. Anyway, to make the futtock staves I'll need to put the deadeyes on the crow nests first.

As shown:

Then, I started on the futtock staves. It's done by rigging a blacken copper nail to the shrouds.

However, I did not continue on the ratlines. Instead, I skipped to finish all the stays and topmast shrouds first. :)

I will continue on the ratlines before I put my yards on.

Up till now, basically all the stays and shrouds are done. Next, I will need to put the gaffs on, then only continue back working my ratlines. :)
